Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and scheduling social media content across platforms
  • Create graphics, flyers, newsletters, and promotional materials aligned with IAVSW branding
  • Support email marketing campaigns and membership communications
  • Assist with website updates and content organization
  • Help promote webinars, conferences, events, and professional development opportunities
  • Draft or edit blog posts, spotlight stories, and member features
  • Support communications related to the annual International Veterinary Social Work Summit
  • Monitor engagement analytics and assist with reporting trends and recommendations
  • Collaborate with board members and committees on outreach initiatives
  • Maintain organized communication and content calendars

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student in communications, marketing, public relations, social work, veterinary medicine, nonprofit management, graphic design, or related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Canva, Wix, or similar design platforms preferred
  • Familiarity with social media management tools is a plus
  • Interest in veterinary social work, mental health, animal welfare, or nonprofit advocacy
  • Ability to work independently and manage deadlines in a remote environment
  • Creative, detail-oriented, and collaborative mindset

The Communications Intern will assist with creating and managing digital communications that promote IAVSW initiatives, membership engagement, educational programming, and the annual Veterinary Social Work Summit. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with an interest in social media, design, storytelling, nonprofit work, or the human-animal bond.
